I never really liked matchy-matchy looks, but want to play with different shades of purple this time. Dark violet wool coat layered over a gray degrade wool dress, team them with light purple booties and the New Springs scarf.
What do you think? Will you wear something tone on tone like this? I’ll probably change these shoes. ;-)

I like it, because its very elegant. I think this is an outfit that carla bruni or michelle obama likes to wear :-)
I don’t know how you do it, but you also manage to find such nice dresses!
Anna, thanks dear. Hope you’ve had a wonderful new year’s eve. And you are right about the outfit, the whole look is kinda too elegant for me. ;-)
Elysium, here is a full view of the dress, it has a very Jil Sander like cut. I got it at COS, maybe you can still find it.
I have always rooted for trying tone on tone or print on print, but maybe I will pass this one. It just too much different shade of blues in the outfit. I am not very daring so I would like to keep them as simple as maximum 3 tones. :) Hey but that is just me who is not very creative when it comes to color. :D
As far as this outfit goes, I would either wear the coat with dress pairing with some black shoes or remove the scarf, or maybe just the scarf with the dress, but not all of them. The coat has a very rich pinkish toned purple which I think might be better with hot pink or even fuschia. :)
streetwithnoname, thanks dear for your suggestions. :-D
I am a person who don’t dare wear colors but somehow can’t see myself in the whole outfit. The coat, the shoes…they are just not meant to be together. I am thinking of black/beige shoes to “rescue” the look too coz I don’t have anything in hot pink, only a scarf with fuchsia border. ;-)
It looks lovely, I will check at COS when I go back to France.
The shoes will definitely stand out more in another outfit, but they do change the style of this one, making it more elegant. I had Carla Bruni in my mind looking at this picture too.
btw, where did you get the belt? I really love how it changes the tone as well!
Elysium, good luck!
jibjab, the belt is actually a long chain necklace I got from a friend. It’s long enough to wrap around my waist. :-) I’ve seen similar chain belt from Zara too.
happy new yr!
i tried first your old space link, not authorised, anyhow this one works out.
nice outfit as usual, in other blog the yellow necklack plus hm zebra stripe skirt is such a cute match.
