Spring Outfit (2): Freshness & Fun

I seldom plan outfits in advance, because you rarely know what mood you are going to be in on a given day, right? But when I heard that we’ll have 21°C on Saturday, I just couldn’t help thinking about this one.

So hurry Saturday, please come quick! lol~~
Jacket: Balenciaga, tee: Luella, shorts: H&M, shoes: Marni.

The jacket is divine! Love the quirkiness of pairing with this tee — made the jacket less serious and more you :)

I really love the shorts, classy and edgy at the same time! I m gonna check out our H&M store to see whether I have the luck.

cest, the best part about high waist shorts is that it makes you become more aware of what you put into your mouth. ;-P Happy shopping!

jibjab, yeah, the jacket can be really serious. But in that way, I’d feel VERY uncomfortable. So thank you haha~~

wave, the shorts are from last year. It might be difficult to get exactly the same one now. I hope you can find something similar. I’ll let you know if I happen to see one.

I don’t plan ahead what to wear either. It’s because I often change my mind so all that work will be thrown away anyhow. :)
This jacket reminds me a 80s TV show “The Dynasty”. :)
I love the idea to how you play with texture and pattern in this outfit. :)

Marni, I’m so looking forward to all your spring outfits, I love this one! but how to use skirts and shorts? wearing tights looks weird, doesn’t it? Thank you for sharing. :)

  10. Posted April 5, 2011 at 11:01 am | Permalink

    Birkinmary, first thank you.:-)

I agree that it is more appropriate and beautiful wearing shorts/skirts with bare legs. But it is still too cold (in my part of EU), so I do wear tights with them.

I normally choose opaque wool tights to go with skirts in thick/heavy fabrics. For shorts, I prefer tights with a touch of sheer effect. Like in this picture, click here.

And here is a tights+skirt combo I like. Hope you’ll find it less weird now. ;-P

Thank you for your reply. Of course I love opaque tights! but think about something like a liberty skirt in neutral colors, the only tights I can think of are nude ones, which I hate!!

Your pictures are exquisite and inspiring! Would you accept fashion challenges from your followers? I’ve got two outfits in my wish list to propose:
    - A red one with your RG Birkin.
    - A casual one with a pair of navy pants and a H carré.

    Thank you in advance!!!

    Birkinmary, you are very welcome.

Oh no, no nude tights, I don’t have a single pair in my drawer coz I can’t stand them either. For skirts in neutral colors, I prefer light gray, navy or black tights. Some dark brown ones work too. I think it really depends on how the skirt look like and the color mix of the whole outfit in general.

P.S. thank you for your fashion challenge, I just did a post on this. Please stay tuned. :-)

Thank you for your reply, your suggestions are always very interesting, ITA with you about neutral colors, I finally got a pair of taupe net tights and they look incredibly neat and a bit edgy! light gray net is also a great idea, Wolford has beautiful net designs for spring.
I can’t wait to read your post about my challenge… It’ll be a pleasure to admire your RG Birkin in action! :))

Birkinmary, thanks for the suggestion. I am going to check them out. I love how Wolford tights shape the legs, they are the best. ;-)
