Equipment Silk Blouse: Yes or No?

I have been looking for the perfect silk blouse for quite some time. After doing my homework on brands and pricing, it seems that everyone is wearing and liking those from Equipment. However, I am that kind of person who is a bit skeptical about all the hype that’s around a most coveted item and prefer to try things on before I buy them. The only problem is, I couldn’t find a local store that carries them. :-(

So my dear readers, what’s your favorite brand for silk blouses? If you happen to own those Equipment ones, would you please share your review? How does it fit, are you satisfied with the quality and is it worth all the praises? BTW, I am considering the white signature one. ;-)

This brings back memories. 18 years ago, I used to get my mother to buy a ton of silk shirts for me in Shanghai. My favorites were light blue and ivory which looked very similar to the ones by Equipment. They lasted for years and years.

I love equipment silk blouses. I have one in purple and one in taupe. I think I got them from Urban Outfitters. They go well with a fedora and a little skirt.

ann taylor used to have silk blouse like this, two front pockets, with great price, but they r sold out now. jcrew has the same style online now, still the original price, which *2 compared when Ann taylor is on sale. I doubt I can hardly find one when they’re marked down. You can try madewell as well, they provide 60 days for return.

I’m like silk shirt junkie: get them from everywhere…j.crew had a silk shirt this season so does Madewell. But for some reason I felt this style with pocket is kinda a fad trend and will probable fade away soon…but it’s a personal choice. Some people are simply just into the look despite the trend. :)

like streetwithnoname, i’d also prefer the shirts w/o the pockets. i guess i don’t get the functionality of them, add to that they’re being placed right there.

CCC, when I was little, my mom used to buy fabrics and get our clothes custom made(it was a trend back then). I remember that the blouses and dresses were made of the most luxurious and heavy silk. Oh, the good old time, lol~~

Fay, thanks dear! These booties are fabulous. I was about to place the order but then found out that they are not available on Yoox EU! :-(

jibjab, thank you for letting me know. We do have UO in town, I’ll check it out then.

san-x, many thanks for your input. Unfortunately I am based in Europe, so it’s not easy to buy clothes from ann taylor, jcrew and co.

streetwithnoname, I wish I had a various choice of silk blouses like you gals. As for the pockets, I don’t have shirts in this design but would love to see how it looks in person.

tom tuttle from tacoma, I can’t think of a functionality for these pockets either(I guess they are just for decoration). ;-)

I like Equipment silk blouse, simple yet chic. Although a lot of brands have silk blouses, most of them are not loose or relaxed enough as Equipment…

Fay, thank dear! I did found one pair from Balenciaga in Paris, awesome design, beautifully made and it was a bargain price, but I didn’t take them in the end cos these heels are just too thin and too high for me. I could’t even walk straight in their store. lol~~

bellring & miss sophie, thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. Now I think I really need an Equipment shirt~~ ;-)

A really cute thing to do, is to cut out (or use oagrinil sized) pictures of you and your fiance, and put loving quotes and maybe a little explanation about certain pictures. You can make photocopies of the pictures or be unique and have different pictures for each table. You can use different pictures for the different types of people at the table older people wouldn’t want to look at the younger people type of pictures. After you scatter the pictures around you can either tape them down and scatter confetti or glitter around the table and put a cover on it like glass or cellophane. I’m not sure if you can imagine it, but it’s a mini collage which your guest can look at and conversate over. It could be an ice breaker. It’d be very convienent if your seating people that don’t know each other that well. They’ll share something in common; The two of you! I hope this works out for you two. Congrats by the way!
