The Debut

of my DIYed statement necklace. :-) Team it with a floral dress (for a dramatic contrast), a gray wool coat (toning down the busy print of the dress) and a pair of black suede booties (for a flair of urban edge).

A is for Accessories

I was talking to a friend yesterday and we were discussing how to make the dreary and boring winter outfits more fun? In the end we both agreed that using the right accessories might be the best way (hey, if you’ve got a better idea, pls let us know ;-) ).

Besides scarves, hats, gloves… I really want to play with arm warmers this winter. They will lend a casual and sporty attitude to a cold-weather wardrobe. Paired them with a dress this time, what do you think?

Have a nice weekend everyone~~ :-D

Style Inspiration: the French 5-Piece Wardrobe

I’ve read somewhere about the rules of the minimalist french Wardrobe. It is said that many French women only buy 5 good pieces a season. I truly love the idea because over the years, I’ve learned that it’s not how much you have to enjoy, but how much you enjoy what you have. ;-)

The core of this idea is rather simple:

Build up yourself a wardrobe with a handful classic key pieces. You then add every season 4-5 new items into your wardrobe to keep it up-to-date. Fit, fabric and quality is more important than quantity, and it is better to spend your clothes budget on something you’d love and cherish forever, awesome pieces which will amaze youself every time when you put them on. Last but not least, pick up the right accessories to keep your look fresh. The end result is a closet that is minimalist but high on style.

Based on these rules, I limited the items on my FW09 wishlist to the following 5. Hope I can stick to the plan and more important, find the real fabulous pieces~~

  1. gray dress with side pockets
  2. black wool shorts
  3. black wool coat
  4. red suede pumps/booties
  5. black over the knee suede boot

Have you already got everything on your list? :-)

Did I say…

…that I love the idea of statement jewelery? :-) Like scarves, they are that kind of accessories which will tie up every look with personality. I played with two old necklaces again and wrapped them with a new red suede rope. And viola, here comes my very own statement necklace, hehe~~

This one is something I found at H&M the other day. For less than 3 Euro, I am amazed how well it is made and how bold and beautiful it is. Can be used as a scarf ring too, just fabulous! ^_*

Artistic Colors

I love to wear colorful clothes in autumn/winter, especially when the gloomy weather affects my mood, making me feel tired and depressed. These fabulous artistic prints/colors always cheer me up and make my day! :-)

Goodbye Sandals

Would you wear socks with sandals in autumn/winter? It is nothing new in fashion, but I think it’s kinda weird. I’d rather let them have a long sleep till next summer, especially when it is so cold outside. ;-)

And the magic of black blazer continues, dressy…

or causal… ^_^

A little black suede Vest and her Friends (8)

It’s getting cold outside, so I matched the black suede vest today with cardi and boots. I am still amazed how versatile the vest is! Definitely one of my best buys. :)

Playing with Colors (2)

I never mixed red and green before, because if you don’t pick up the right things, this combination can be very trashy. ;) But I’ve always wanted to have a try, so today I played with these two colors with something from my wardrobe. I couldn’t create a full outfit since I’d rather complete the upper part with a pair of gray wool shorts and some kind of red suede platform pumps.

I am still searching for the right shorts and red suede pumps, if you happen to see something nice, please let me know.*_^ Wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Old Pearl’s new Life

One of the biggest trends of fall 2009 jewelry is statement necklaces. From giant metal flowers to big rocks and gemstones, bold and chunky multi-chains are everywhere. I like the idea of statement necklaces, they’re the type of pieces that will transform a simple outfit into something glamorous. However, I’ll never wear these huge oversized necklaces (I mean the real HUGE ones). They spice up looks on the runway, but are not for everyday life. At least not for me. ;)

What I really love are pearls, pearls not in a simple single strand, but mixed with chains and ribbons. That kind of old world charm with a modern flair is so beautiful. Inspired by a friend, I DIYed an old pearl necklace to something new.

Fashion Essential – Black Blazer

Every girl might have some her very own fashion must haves. Well, I am not referring these trendy pieces which come and go, but some trendless essentials you are gonna love and wear forever. For me, black blazer is definite one of them.

I love to collect classic black blazers which have a modern twist. Just like this one, its clean cuts and abstract tailoring remind me of these gorgeous pieces from Jil Sander. Pure, understated, my cup of tea!

And the best part is, black blazers can be always dressed up and down. Elegant……

……or casual, your choice! :)
