Carré Story – Cent Plis des Miao

I’ve heard months ago that there will be quite a few China related designs in the Fall/Winter Carré collection, so I was very curious how they will look like:

  1. The Rhythm of China
  2. Sichuan
  3. Cent Plis des Miao

Now after seeing and trying these new season Carrés in store, I made my choice. The Rhythm of China was designed by the Chinese painter Ding Yi. The idea is to symbolize the soul of modern China by using countless little colored stars. Unfortunately it is not my cup of tea at all. Sorry, Mr. Ding. ;-)

Sichuan is an old design from R. Dallet, it features the wild animals from this very province in China. It’s a beautiful design but the color combinations of the reissued ones are just not for me.

The last one is Cent Plis des Miao, I wasn’t aware of this design until a friend wrote to me about it (a BIG thank you, my dear :-D ). At first I was surprised that Hermès issued a scarf based on the traditional pleated skirts from Miao, which is a minority folk from southwest China’s Guizhou province. This is really something special for me coz I’ve lived in Guizhou for many years and still have friends there. The design itself is simply stunning, I love the way the skirt is presented, the dedicate embroidery details at each corner and the vibrant color mix…

Wearing this Carré will surely bring back my memories in Guizhou… I’ll post a Carré outfit next time~~ Happy weekend everyone! :-)

Pink

Peony is my favorite flower in late spring/early summer. I am not a big fan of pink, but peonies in pink are just beyond gorgeous. Whenever I take a look at them they always put a smile on my face. :-D

Summer Outfit (1): When Purple meets Green

It has been very humid and muggy lately, but the good thing is, the temperature goes up too, finally! :-) It’s time for a summer outfit~~

I found the green/purple/white sandals by chance just three days after I posted the “Nature Beauty”. There was only one pair left and they are exactly my size. Pretty amazing, ah? Just like my friend said, maybe they are meant to be mine. ;-)

Natural Beauty

I found these gorgeous no name flowers (they have a name for sure but sorry I have no idea how they are called. Please educate me if you know. lol~~) during an after-supper stroll yesterday, pair them with a two tone leaf from our garden. Voilà, there is nothing better to kick off my June posts than such a natural beauty. :-)

BTW, I really love the refreshing contrast of green and purple. Have to create an outfit in this combo next time~~

Spring Outfit (7): Grateful Leopard

Can you tell that I have a weak spot for animal print? ;-)

The leopard print silk top with asymmetric shoulder was one of my Easter treats and the fabulous leather skirt was a surprise from my hubby, so I feel I should put these two items with love together. Team them with a pair of woven gloves, royal blue slingbacks and a brown belt.

They are all very simple pieces, but only the person who wears them knows how special and priceless they are. Shouldn’t we cherish what we have in life?

Spring Outfit (6): Easter Green

We had a terrible storm last night with lightning, thunder and rain but today when I woke up, it seems like nothing had happened! Looking at the soft sunshine outside, I can’t help singing that cheerful song from R. Kelly – the storm is over now~~

With Easter coming up, I feel that I have to wear something in green. hehe~~ Wish you all a happy and blessed Easter! Enjoy your long weekend, and your Easter treats~~ :-)

Carré Story – Regarde Paris

Back in December as I was writing about the carre “Noel au 24 Faubourg”, I also listed my grail scarves. “Regarde Paris” is one of them, designed by Bali Barret in 2006.

What makes my heart beat faster while gazing at this carre is the black and white pencil scratch. It brings back my childhood memories, the days I enjoyed painting so much and spent hours sharpening pencils and drawing pictures… The fact that I finally found it in Paris makes this carre more special for me.

The pop of fresh mint color is just perfect for the Spring! :-)

Happy Chinese New Year

Yesterday was the start of the Chinese new year. I wish all my dear friends a happy, healthy and successful year of tiger! I hope all of us have the determination and bravery of the tiger in facing all the ups and downs in 2010. :-)

My mom used to give me new clothes from head to toe to kick off the new year while I was a child. Now I am not a little girl anymore and don’t follow this tradition every year, but I always wear something red to celebrate.

Paris Souvenirs

A friend asked me if I’ve got any souvenirs in Paris. To be honest, I am not a big fan of these typical souvenirs sold at every corner. So no, I didn’t buy anything.

Last winter while we were in Paris, I found this lovely cocktail ring at a supermarket and really loved it. So it came home with me.

This time I happened to get myself another ring. It wasn’t planed but just a coincidence, maybe rings are my lucky souvenirs in Paris? ;-)

Paris by Night

This is our fourth trip to Paris, we’ve chosen to stay in different hotels at different districts each time and try to discover the charm of Paris from varied angles. This time, we decided to explore the city at night because Paris is one of the best cities in the world to wander around at night with a camera.

It was cold, but less crowded;

It was dark, but less noisy;

It was such a pleasant experience…

Just can’t wait to visit Paris again this Summer!
